Geodle geography game
What counts as a connection in Geodle
Most connections are real-world land borders. Permanent crossings and curated island links are different rule types and are labeled separately.
Land borders
Two countries are neighbors when their sovereign territory touches on land. The length of the boundary does not matter: long frontiers and tiny microstate boundaries are both valid.
Maritime boundaries normally do not count. Countries facing each other across open water are not treated as neighbors merely because their territorial seas meet.
Fixed links and island connections
Permanent fixed crossings are stored separately from land borders, including the Channel Tunnel, the Oresund fixed link, and the Johor fixed crossings.
Curated island links keep otherwise isolated countries playable. They are puzzle mechanics, not factual land-border claims.
Enclaves, exclaves, and disputed territory
Enclaves and exclaves contribute borders through their parent country. Examples include Kaliningrad, Nakhchivan, Ceuta, and Melilla. Microstates such as Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City retain their real surrounding borders.
Disputed and partially recognized territories are handled conservatively so that the game remains understandable and repeatable. The playable graph focuses on sovereign-country routes rather than attempting to settle political claims.
